Mesa County Fair

Well the Lester Family cleaned up at the Mesa County Fair this year! This was our first time entering the open class at a fair. Here's how we did:

Bryan: LEGO "Main Attack Ship" - 2nd Place, Junior- LEGO Class

Sarah: Pen & Ink drawing " Rebirth" - 1st Place, Youth- Fantasy Class

Dave: 5 out of 6 photos in the professional class got blue ribbons, the 6th got 2nd place!

Me: 3 out of 3 photos in the Adult Class got blue ribbons
Peach Scones: 2nd place, pastry class

Apricot Jam: 2nd place, Apricot Jam Class
Wild Plum Jam: Blue Ribbon AND BEST IN SHOW!

Our inspiration for entering the fair was Bryan's friend Duke, who raises the chickens that provide the eggs that we serve at the inn. Duke won Grand Champion for his poultry division, his first year in 4-H! So now when you come to the inn you will be served Duke's Fresh Grand Champion Eggs!

If you've never been to the fair, it really is a treat to see all the handiwork of the local folks, from beautiful quilts, foods, woodwork, artwork, 4-H exhibits, the animals, the rides and shows, it's just really fun!

Plus, where else can you get funnel cake, sno-cones and chicken on a stick all in one place? Make sure you have one of each before you go on the tilt-o' wheel!
